Meet our Pastor

Corey Sharpe has taken a somewhat twisty route to Methodism, coming from a Baptist tradition in his home state of North Carolina, even dabbing in Pentecostalism as he explored his own faith as a teenager.  He attended Liberty University (BA, Biblical Studies and MA, Education) and served as a youth minister for ten years, before seeking ordination in the United Methodist Church and attending Evangelical Seminary (MDiv).

Prior to his coming to the Susquehanna Charge (Wesleyan Chapel and Hopewell Church), in July 2010, Corey served at Faith United Methodist Church in Rockville.  He is working on a Doctorate in Missional Leadership at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California.  He is passionate about leading the Charge beyond its wells, discovering what God might be up to in the neighborhood, and implementing ways of joining God there.

Corey spends his free time with his wife Julie and their four children, Jacob, Abigail, Nora, and Eli.

Announcements

WEATHER CANCELLATION POLICY

We will try to keep our ministries operating whenever possible. However, there are times when weather and road conditions dictate that our worship services and events must be cancelled.

Cancellations will be posted on the church website (www.hopewellumclevel.com) (chapelatparadise.com).  Worship service cancellations will also be announced on WJZ (CBS News Baltimore). The church website should be the first place to check, as it can take the media time to get the information on the air and on their websites.  Cancellation information should be posted on the church website no later than one-hour prior to the event in question.

Even when services have not been cancelled, only you can decide whether conditions in your area will allow for safe travel. Please use your best judgment regarding travel conditions in your area.

Quote of the Day
You cannot do a kindness too soon, because you never know how soon it will be too late.

Verse of the Day
But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called "today."
